Despite the loss it was a good run out for the players in front of a sizeable crowd at Scatherd Lane. 2 very early tries by the Maroons, who were blatantly seen warming up, contrary to normal 4th team protocol, ultimately created the difference between the two teams. From that point on its was almost neck and neck with Morley scoring a further try before Cleckheaton got on the scoreboard with 2 of their own. The first was a short range effort from Rob Brown and then Ollie Clark went in from 40m out. The sides changed ends with Morley holding a 22 - 14 advantage. In the second half Cleckheaton scored through James Griffiths and Alfie Green and despite getting within 6 points of the home team, Morley went in for a last minute try to take the bragging rights. The 4ths consoled themselves in the bar and are now looking forward to the start of the season proper.
