Cleckheaton 31-26 Old Brodleians. Cleck extended their unbeaten run to 9 games with victory in their second and final pre-season warm up game.

After 40 continuous phases of play in the early part of the match, Cleckheaton pressurised Brods into a try-line infringement, which resulted in the referee awarding a penalty try. Josh Plunkett then directed a maul to the line for Cleck's second 5-pointer. Wingers, Mikey Hayward and Alex Brown also got on the scoresheet diving over in opposite corners and Ronan Evans added a couple of conversions to thrust Cleckheaton into a 24-0 lead on the half hour mark. Brods got a break away try to reward their efforts just before half time and the sides changed ends at 24-7.

Cleck's coach, Thiu Barnard and Brods' coach, Ollie Ackroyd made plenty of changes to give their whole squad a run and Brods came out with renewed determination and went on to score two tries, narrowing Cleck's lead to 24 - 21. With 15 minutes left to go, a nice step from Kieron Downs, put the Cleck man over the whitewash and Evans added the conversion. With the last action of the game Brods crossed again for a final score of 31-26.

This was a good run out for both teams and Cleckheaton now look forward to commencing their North 1 East league campaign away at Malton and Norton next Saturday, where they will be looking to take their winning run, which started half a year ago on the 24th February, into double figures.
