Cleckheaton Girls impress on their debut at Moorend

Last Sun (5th March) saw the girls have their first run out at Moorend.  After several months of training, and teaching the girls the skill set needed to play contact rugby, they were able to demonstrate just how far they have come in such a short time. With the u13's hosting opposition players from Huddersfield YMCA, Old Brods and Old Crocs, and the u15's and U18's hosting players from Huddersfield YMCA, they all got their chance to impress. They were put through their paces in joint warm up sessions with the opposition enabling them to learn together and forge new friendships that rugby union prides itself upon. Each and every one of them put 100 percent into their first game in the cherry and white shirts. With the majority of the girls being completely new to rugby, they soon took to it like a duck to water,  a description very apt for the weather conditions on the day!
As the final whistle blew for all ages, the freezing cold but extremely happy girls were so proud of themselves and their performance, and rightly so, as we as coaches and parents were of them. Keep up the good work girls!!
Rugby union is an excellent team sport for all, teaching the core values the sport works very hard to uphold; respect, teamwork, discipline,  sportsmanship and enjoyment.

Cleckheaton R.U.F.C will always welcome new players from Micro's  rugby (u6's) to u18's.  Mixed rugby is played from Micro's to u11's.  Boys rugby from u12's to u18's and girls rugby from u13's (school year 7 upwards) to U18's  (up to school year 13).
