Kestrels went to Brodlieans for a friendly game to replace the league game against Selby that had to be postponed due to the unfortunate event in the past 2 weeks.
Brods took an early lead with a converted try but after that Kestrels dominated the game playing with the advantage of the slope. Steve Noble was first on the board when he dummied his way over the line for an unconverted try. Lewis Symonds followed a kick ahead by Sammut and picked up to dive over the line, again kick missed but 7-10 lead. Minutes later came another try from Symonds after great work by Sammut , Richard Noble and Whetham down the right wing 7-15. Sammut went on a diagonal run and his pace took him clear of the defence for the 4th try, this time he split the posts 7-22 after 30 minutes . The 5th try went youngster Will Oldroyd who crossed in the left corner on his debut, Sammut adding the goal, 7-29 at half time.
Brods needed to score first playing with the advantage of the slope but when Kestrels took the ball at the line out , the maul formed and rumbled towards the line, it looked like progress had been stopped but hooker Ollie Clark twisted his way over the the line try number 6, conversion clipped the post but 7-34.
Brods then started to play through their forwards down the middle of the field having had no joy outside, their second try came after a spell of pressure inside the visitors 22, kick was good 14-34 after 55 minutes. Logan Senior came on and put in several huge tackles that drove the Brods ball carriers back and then he showed his attacking instinct when he followed a move down the blind side for his first try as a Senior player, 14-39. Brods had the final say in the dying seconds, crossing for another converted try but Kestrels deserved their victory 21-39 in the final game until the New Year.
