The first half took time to build some momentum but eventually the Cleckheaton pack began to gain the upper hand. Tries from Ben Thrower, Andy Piper, James Marshall and the influential Tom Brooke put Cleckheaton in the driving seat at the break with 3 Ross Hayden conversions giving the Kestrels a comfortable 26-0 lead.
The second half began with a popular try for big prop forward Matthew Hadfield closely followed by further scores from Tom Crewe and Ross Hayden, all 3 tries being converted by the latter. West Leeds never gave up despite being outgunned and scored a deserved consolation converted try. As the light faded and the frost returned, one of Cleckheaton's brightest prospects Jack Seddon crossed for the final try again converted by Ross Hayden.
Seddon along with fellow Colt Josh White showed remarkable composure both when in possession and in defence with his running lines in support play being particularly effective. Both have tremendous potential and could well be given opportunities in the senior team in the not too distant future.
