Our trio of coaches are moving on at the end of a great season for the club. We finished 6th in Regional 1 - North East Our highest finish at Level 5 of the rugby pyramid, since promotion to the National Leagues in 2004. We also got to the Yorkshire Cup final for the first time in 20 years and to the semi of the Papa’s Cup, a fixture we couldn’t fulfil due to it being immoveable from the Saturday that a lot of the side were in Budapest on Tour.
For Steve and Michael, a short stay or a short return in Michael’s case and for Matty, it brings to an end 20 years of continuous involvement in adult rugby at Cleckheaton. Player, Captain, Backs Coach, Head Coach and Legend. Though Matty is stepping back, I am sure he won’t be far away on many many Saturdays.
