Bob takes over from the late John Archer who sadly died last November but as a mark of respect we left the post vacant for the rest of the season. John’s shoes are hard to fill but in Bob we have a very worthy successor.
Bob started playing at Cleckheaton in 1977 in the Colts team, he went on to play for all 4 senior sides 4th XV to 1st XV. He has helped coaching with the mini/juniors and went on to manage the 2nd and 3rd teams. He ran the senior tour for many years and is still involved today. He has been a valuable committee member for both the rugby section and the sports club itself. His experience, attitude and commitment to the ethos of the club makes him the ideal candidate to take on the role of President.
On accepting the role Bob said:
I am so proud to be voted as President of the Rugby club in what is such a big year with the Legacy project and honoured to follow in the shoes of Alan Bentley and John Archer. I will do my best to fill them!
