Introducing our new Chairman of Rugby

Cleckheaton RUFC are delighted to announce that Carl Mason has been appointed Chairman of Rugby.

Thank you Neil Gillan
Carl succeeds Neil Gillan who held the position for fourteen years and the club would like to express our sincere thanks to Neil. His tireless dedication, wise leadership and deep-rooted passion for rugby and the club have left a lasting legacy. Neil’s amazing efforts have been instrumental in shaping the club into what it is today and we are all deeply thankful for his service. We are fortunate that Neil is not stepping down completely and continues to be an integral part of the Committee as we transition to this new era.

About our new Chairman
Carl has been a part of the club for over 40 years, as a junior player, senior player, parent and coach. During his playing career at Cleckheaton, he was part of two promotion winning teams, resulting in playing in National League 3. He also represented his County at various age groups and was successfully selected to play for England North 21s. He has a love and commitment to rugby and understands the mechanics of all of the sports functions across CRUFC. With his business acumen, dedication, ambition and experience we are excited about the journey ahead.

Speaking of his appointment, Mason said…
“It is a real privilege to be appointed Chairman of Rugby at Cleckheaton. The club has been an important part of my life and my family’s lives for a very long time. I am looking forward to leading on from the great success of my predecessor, taking the club forward by building on its history and developing its future”.

“We have a golden opportunity to build on something special with a new rugby structure led by our senior coaches, social rugby provided in our 3rd XV, women and girls teams and a thriving junior section. Player development and welfare across the whole club is key and will create the foundations for the next generation of players”.

We wish Carl all the best in his new role.
