U11’s just edged by West Leeds but put in performance of the season

After struggling to get a fixture this week due to moorend been unplayable west Leeds answered the call at the 11th hour and hosted the u11’s on Sunday. The pitch was in great condition considering the recent bad weather and we were all set for a tough battle.
Both teams fired straight out of the blocks with plenty of strong direct carries and equally strong defensive hits. The hosts got on the scoreboard first crashing over from short range but Cleck responded instantly when Ted exploited a gap in the defence. The hosts gained some good field position from a clearing kick and scored a neat try in the corner moving the ball well through multiple pairs of hands. Ben entered the game and made an immediate impact catching a kick and powering 90% of the pitch only to be tackled short, cleck took advantage of the field position with Maxwell getting over the line 2-2 at the half. In a tightly contested 3rd period cleck recycled well and progressed up the field, the teams exchanged scores once again Ben crashing over for Cleck. Reuben and Myles both made good ground when they got the ball. Isaac had some good moments taking a high ball well and Hugo heavily involved again improving on his recent good form. Finlay and George rolled their sleeves up as always both putting in big shifts and Henry was a constant threat.
We were set up for a tense final quarter and it didn’t disappoint two very well matched teams traded blow after blow the hosts edged in front again but cleck heads didn’t drop as they continued to compete, a super run by Ted thought he’d levelled the scores unfortunately a foot in touch denied him. West Leeds broke the line immediately in a bid to break clecks efforts only for George to save a sure try in corner. With time running out the host grabbed another score to win the game 5-3 but what a game of rugby and a superb effort by Cleck.
Kason was outstanding constantly breaking the gain line and leading the defence and was rightly recognised by West Leeds as their opposition man of the match. Ben and Ted shared our player of the match award.
