The Kestrels took on local rivals Old Brods at the pavillion on Saturday.

Gaz Lamb was back in the starting line up after missing all season with injury. He was that desperate to play he came stright from the airport after wintering in Barbados.

Cleck played down the slope in the 1st half in to a strong wind which was making any form of gaining territory with the boot difficult.
Both defences were on top for the 1st 20 mins and after a succesion of forward runs by Max Sowden, Liam Goldthorope and James Crowther the ball was taken into the Brods 22. After a ruck was formed Scrum half Lewis Beasty spotted an opening down the blind side and raced in to score the opener.

Shortly after the intensity of the tackling by both sides took it's toll when Brad Frazer put a massive hit on to the Brods centre which resulted him leaving the field injured. Any chance Brad has of making the 1st XV may have gone up in smoke as it turned out to be 1st team coach Armo's lad.
Soon after this Max Sowden had to leave the field after he recieved the same treatment from the brods flanker.

The Brods backs combined well and ran in a well worked try from deep inside their own half which was converted to make it 5-7

Soon after this Brods scored again after some poor tackling midfield by the Kestrels again this was converted to give them a 12-7 lead.

The Kestrels then began to make use of the wind with Jarrad Toulson and Lewis Beasty both putting in some ground making kicks. From one Cleck gained a line out 10 metres out the ball was taken by Rob Brown which resulted in a rolling maul directed by Josh White which saw him go over to score Toulson added the extras.

Cleck continued to press and when Frazer broke the line and appeared to have scored the referree gave the decision he was held up.

Soon afrter this James Crowether went over the line but dropped the ball while touching it down.

With time running out Clecks pressure eventually told when Sam Crowther hit the line at pace to score the winning try.

George Speight had a good game with some strong running out of defence as did Kieran Downes.

Matthew Hadfield had his usual 20 mins it would have been less if he was aware that Nick holland could prop as well as 2nd row.
