Our U16's Girls have had a great run over recent weeks, with three wins from three. With the squad numbers growing by the week, the selection options are a nice headache to have!
The first of their wins came after travelling to Rochdale, to face a familiar side and old friends. Rochdale's strong centre Dotty always gives the Cleck girls a run for their money, but with great teamwork they were able to close her down for the majority of the game. Cleck came away as the winners by 52 points to 14.
The second of their wins came after playing a floodlit fixture up at Old Brods. Brods have been rebuilding their girls section after a dip in numbers, but their hard work hasn't gone un noticed as their numbers continue to rise! Each of our players took turns for the opposition to keep the game flowing, with us taking the win again at 55 points to nil. In fairness the score did not reflect how hard Old Brods worked and it will be good to see the improvement when they play again in the coming weeks.
Our most recent fixture was played last Sunday as we hosted AireWharfe. The opposition were made up of a permanent cluster side with players from Wharfedale, Keighley, Skipton and Baildon. Cleck took a few minutes to wake up and looked tired at times, but they soon found their stride, moving the ball around in the backs, enabling us to take the spoils at 43, 0.
This Sunday they face Sandal in the first pool game of the Yorkshire Cup, kicking off at 3pm. Cleck will be keen to impress and have been working hard in preparation. Any club support would be very welcome!
New players are welcome at all of our female age groups from U12's to U18s' (school years 6-13). For more details contact Hannah Curley on 07986 875603.
