A Cleckheaton RUFC U7’s team of Adam Boocock, Sam Booth, Sam Jackson, Theo McAnulla, William Nicholson and Tom Wassell enjoyed a successful and fun day at the Sandal Rugby Tournament this Sunday ending up a very close 2nd.
Facing strong opposition throughout, Cleckheaton were undefeated in their pool picking up solid wins against Wortley and two Sheffield Tigers sides, whilst drawing to Lymm and Sandal (the overall tournament winners) with the latter being an extremely exciting and even game.
It was a great team effort and particularly encouraging given that more than half the team had not played rugby before the start of this season. All of the team were awarded medals for their endeavours and it was impossible for any one person to be singled out for 'Player of the Day' as they all played exceptionally well with vigour and determination.
