Brodlieans came to Moorend looking to retain the Fred Scott Trophy played for annually between the teams. Brods started strongly and Cleckheaton couldnt get any possession in opening 5 minutes and Brods duly took the lead with a well worked try 0-5.
Cleckheaton came back and had the better of the next 20 minutes , eventually a period of pressure saw Cleckheaton get a try which was unconverted 5-5. Cleckheaton then took the lead on 35 minutes with their 2nd try 10-5 at half time.
Brods started the 2nd half like the first with 2 quick tries, the second of which was converted to give the visitors the lead 10-17 after 54 minutes. The game was a bit of a stop and start affair, Cleckheaton got a 3rd try on 58 minutes to get within 2 points, but Brods moved up a gear with a devastating spell where they scored 3 more tries in a 10 minute spell to take the game away from Cleckheaton and the score to 15-32 with 8 minutes to play.
